Little Donkey has served Southern-inspired Mexican food in downtown Homewood for 14 years, according to the Homewood Star's May 2026 column: tacos, queso, fajitas and fried chicken. It was a Pihakis Restaurant Group room until that Birmingham group collapsed in April 2026; on 1 May 2026 Bham Now reported that Little Donkey chef Joshua Gentry, Luca Lagotto chef Rita Bernhardt and developer Mike Mouron had formed a local ownership group to keep it and Luca Lagotto open. It shares the 2701 18th Street South building with the former Rodney Scott's space that Walk-On's is taking over.
