Hot and Hot Fish Club is Chris and Idie Hastings' room at Pepper Place, in what the venue calls Birmingham's creative district, with a chef's counter, open kitchen, large windows and exposed brick. The venue says that since 1994 the Hastings and their team have built an extensive network of purveyors, foragers and artisans, and describes the cooking as a modern blend of Southern, French and California styles. Chris Hastings won the James Beard Foundation's Best Chef: South award in 2012. Reservations are through Resy; the site also runs a catering arm and lists sister room OvenBird.
