Warren Webster opened Burning Tree in March 2025 after about 35 years at Jim 'N Nick's, where he started in 1991 and spent his last twenty years as assistant general manager in Trussville. The fast-casual smokehouse near Pepper Place is tied to the Fatback Pig Project, the pork farm and processing plant owned by Fresh Hospitality Group, which found restaurant space while building its Birmingham plant. Brisket tacos in beef-tallow tortillas, brisket and gravy fries and a rib sandwich lead the menu, and the room has indoor and outdoor seating.
