Paw Paw Patch
Paw Paw Patch began as the Dairy Shack ice cream shop in the early 1960s, and owner Joyce Melton's family bought it and turned it into a meat-and-three that has run for more than 40 years, according to the Homewood Star's November 2025 profile. Fried chicken, country fried steak, chopped hamburger steak, fried okra, green lima beans, mac and cheese, banana pudding and cornbread are on the menu. The name comes from a pawpaw tree planted out front in memory of Melton's late father, who liked to sing the folk song.
