Mom's Basement
Mom's Basement opened in May 2018 on the lower level of the Avondale Mills shopping center, below what was then Sheppard's Pet Supply. It is built to feel like a mother's basement ... wood paneling, a red oriental rug, mismatched furniture, foosball and Pac-Man, refrigerators covered in magnets, and a wall of framed portraits of patrons' mothers. The bar sells canned wine and beer, well cocktails, hot dogs and popcorn, with karaoke on Thursdays in its early years. Sheppard's Pet Supply announced in January 2024 that it would close after eight years.
