Heritage Coffee sits at 400 19th Street in Ensley's historic business district, in the old Cotton's clothing store building that Mitchell and Ida Cotton ran from 1922 to 2012. Owner Josh Brenneman came to Birmingham after the 2011 tornadoes to do disaster relief, and he told Bham Now he wanted the coffee shop to be a way to build community, with board games, wifi and a place to connect. The shop earned a 99 on its April 2026 county food service inspection, and Bham Now's April 2026 coffee guide lists it with weekday morning hours.
