Eagle's Restaurant
Eagle's has served soul food on 16th Street North since 1951, one block south of the ACIPCO pipe plant. The kitchen buys its collards, cabbage, sweet potatoes and corn from the Jefferson County Farmers Market about a mile away, and the menu changes daily. It is known for oxtails, neck bones, pig ears and pig feet alongside meat-and-two plates such as fried pork chops, barbecue chicken, turnip greens and candied yams. Andrew Zimmern featured it on Bizarre Foods America in 2013. It closed in March 2020 and reopened that October with a newly built walk-up window.
