Chez Lulu & Continental Bakery
Chez Lulu opened in 1995 as the neighboring restaurant of Continental Bakery, its sister bakery, which has been baking in English Village for more than 40 years. The bistro and pizzeria is inspired by the cuisines of the French Riviera, with dinner Thursday through Sunday and a Sunday high tea. Bham Now reported in February 2025 that founder Carole Griffin, who ran the bakery for 40 years, handed it to new owner David Griner in early November 2024; Griner is an Alabama native, journalist and nonprofit founder who began as a baker.
